Mani Tese is an Association recognized as Non Governmental Organization (NGO) and as Non Profit Organization (ONLUS). Since 1981 it has been declared a public utility body, and since 1997 it enjoys the consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The national secretariat is located in Milan. Since 1964 Mani Tese has been committed to fighting world hunger and the imbalances between North and South of the world, working together with the people of the poorest areas of the world. The organization is active in 14 Countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America,implementing integrated development programmes involving local communities in each phase of the project and empowering them so that they may carry on their social and economic development tread autonomously.

 

 

A non Governmental Organization for Desarrollo (ONGD) catholic volunteers, who from 1960 fight against poverty, hunger, malnutrition, disease, lack of knowledge, under-development and against their causes.MANOS UNIDAS was born as an precise campaign against the hunger and as of 1978 it acquired total legal personality, canonical and civil like organization, happening to denominate“Unidas" meaning “hands”.In order to fulfill the objective Manos finances projects of development in the countries of the South and realizes sensitization campaigns in our country.

 

 

Caritas India is the official national organization of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India for social development. It was established in 1962 to assist the Church in India in efforts to eradicate poverty, reach relief and rehabilitation in times of disasters and organize communities for self advancement. Caritas India has served the poor and marginalized, without any distinction of caste, creed and ethnicity. Caritas India inspires to Alleviate human suffering and misery in a spirit of charity and compassion, Give concrete expression to Christian love, so that all may individually and collectively grow into that fullness of humanity as at creation and Educate people and make them conscious and concerned about social justice, cooperation and self-reliance through Empowering local communities to initiate and sustain their own humanization process, Promoting the growth and development of local and regional structures and Encouraging formation of people's Organizations at grassroots to help social justice, peace and total human development.

 

 

Catholic Relief Services was founded in 1943 by the Catholic Bishops of the United States to provide emergency assistance to World War II survivors in Europe. After the rehabilitation of Europe, CRS began addressing needs in scores of countries newly independent after years of colonization in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Catholic Relief Services has worked in solidarity with the people of India for more than 60 years. Since 1946, when CRS provided emergency food relief during the Bombay famine, CRS has rooted partnerships and programming across all of India's states, collaborating alongside families, communities, government leadership and the Church to promote the well-being and dignity of those who are in greatest need. In India, Catholic Relief Services focuses on disaster management, livelihoods, HIV and AIDS, health, and the protection of women and children from human traffickers. CRS works with some of India's most vulnerable communities to address immediate needs, strengthen the participation of women in local decision-making, and ensure the successful and sustainable development of program activities.

 

 

Founded in 1946, the Catholic-Caritas France is a service of the Catholic Church and member of the International Caritas confederation. It federates a network of 65,000 volunteers “to bring, everywhere where the need will be felt some, irrespective of denominations, any help and any indirect direct aid or, moral or material, whatever the philosophical or religious options of the recipients”.The actions of Catholic aid are implemented by a network the voluntary ones organized in teams local, integrated within delegations and supported by voluntary and paid national headquarter.

 

 

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria was created to dramatically increase resources to fight three of the world's most devastating diseases, and to direct those resources to areas of greatest need. The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria is an international financing institution that invests the world’s money to save lives. The Global Fund is a unique global public/private partnership dedicated to attracting and disbursing additional resources to prevent and treat HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. This partnership between governments, civil society, the private sector and affected communities represents a new approach to international health financing. The Global Fund works in close collaboration with other bilateral and multilateral organizations to supplement existing efforts dealing with the three diseases. Since its creation in 2002, the Global Fund has become the main source of finance for programs to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, with approved funding of US$ 19.3 billion for more than 572 programs in 144 countries. It provides a quarter of all international financing for AIDS globally, two-thirds for tuberculosis and three quarters for malaria.

 

 

The International HIV/AIDS Alliance (the Alliance) is the Secretariat for a global partnership of nationally-based Linking Organisations and Country Offices working to support community action on AIDS in developing countries. The Alliance aims to contribute to National programmed by focusing on Impact at the state & District Level which further contributes to Universal access targets for specific groups at high risk. Alliance India is one of the four offices of the International secretariat. Supported by a national secretariat in Delhi, the Alliance’s presence in India comprises five linking organisations, one state partner and their networks of more than one hundred community-based organisations.

Caritas Italiana is the Pastoral Body created by the Italian Episcopal Conference in order to promote, in cooperation with other bodies as well, the charity commitment of the Italian ecclesiastical community, in the forms that are appropriate considering time and needs, for a complete development of man, social justice and peace, with particular attention to the poor and with a mainly pedagogical function. Caritas Italiana was founded in 1971 answering to the will of Paul VI, in the spirit of renewal launched by the II Vatican Council. The activities of Caritas Italiana are strictly connected to the 220 diocesan Caritases engaged in the territory, animating the civil and ecclesial community and promotingpastoral services like Counselling Centres, Centres for Poverty and Resources Monitoring, Parish Caritases, Reception Centres for needy people, etc.

 

 

TASOSS is the official organisation of the Tamilnadu Catholic Bishops Council (TNBC) for justice, peace and development. It reflects the social concern of the Church in Tamilnadu. As such, it assists the Church and the leaders to respond realistically to the situation.

 

 


Mahalir Thittam by the Tamil Nadu Corporation for development of women Ltd. (TNCDW) Mahalir Thittam is a socio-economic empowerment programme for women implemented by Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women Ltd. Mahalir Thittam is based on Self Help Group (SHG) approach and is implemented in partnership with Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Community based organizations. Mahalir Thittam is implemented in partnership with NGOs who help in formation of SHGs, provide training and monitor them. The NGOs are given funds for providing the above services. Interested NGOs are affiliated as partners with Mahalir Thittam if they satisfy the norms for affiliation. The hallmark of the SHGs promoted by Mahalir Thittam is the systematic training provided to the SHG members and the office bearers. This capacity building brings about qualitative changes in the attitude of the women and promotes cohesion and effective functioning of the group.

 

 

In 1988, the National Child Labour Project (NCLP) Scheme was launched in 9 districts of high child labour endemicity in the country. The Scheme envisages running of special schools for child labour withdrawn from work. In the special schools, these children are provided formal/non-formal education along with vocational training, a stipend of Rs.100 per month, supplementary nutrition and regular health checkups so as to prepare them to join regular mainstream schools. Under the Scheme, funds are given to the District Collectors for running special schools for child labour. Most of these schools are run by the NGOs in the district. This is the major scheme for the rehabilitation of child labour. Under the scheme, Project Societies at the district level are fully funded for opening up of special school/Rehabilitation Centres for the rehabilitation of child labour.

 

 

The Child Protection Programmes of the Ministry focuses on the group namely, children in crisis situation such as street children, children who have been abused, abandoned children, orphaned children, children in conflict with the law, and children affected by conflict or disasters, etc.
