Educational Development Day

MMSSS celebrated the Educational Development Day on the 18th of July, 2022 at R. C. Higher Secondary School in Virudhunagar. The program began with “Tamil Thai Vaazhththu” a hymn in praise of the Tamil language. Fr. G. Gabriel, the Secretary of MMSSS welcomed the gathering and in his welcome address, he briefed the purpose of the celebration and enumerated the activities of MMSSS towards the cause of education. In order to bring out the hidden talents of young students, we conducted essay writing and poem writing competitions and cheered the winners with amazing cash prizes and certificates. All the participants were also honored with certificates. Nine poor students were identified in the District of Virudhunagar, who find it difficult to continue with their education, and they were given financial assistance.

Two students delivered inspiring speeches about the great personality of Mr. Kamarajar, the former Chief Minister of Tamilnadu, on whose birthday (July 15th) the Government of Tamilnadu celebrates the Educational Development Day every year to honor him. A play was also enacted by students which depicted the commitment of Mr. Kamarajar for the promotion of education for all. Then Dr. Maria William, the Program Coordinator of MMSSS, introduced the magazine “Samuuga Vizhigal” (meaning the eyes of the society) which is a quarterly published by MMSSS in order to promote social justice and equity. And the magazine was released by Ms. Meenatchi, the District Children Protection Officer in Virudhunagar and the magazine was received by the Chief Educational Officer Ms. Gnana Gowri and the Deputy Superintendent of Police Ms. Archana Devi who were the chief guests of the day.

The DCPO spoke about cultivating good manners and healthy behaviors for the good future of the students. And the DSP spoke to the students in a cordial manner and gave them some guidelines how mobile phones and internet can be used carefully and positively. The CEO also encouraged the students in her speech for the educational development of the children.

The district coordinator for Child line, Mr. Murugan was also on the dais. He spoke about the safety of children, particularly girl children and asked them to communicate to their parents, teaches, friends without hesitation what happens to them. He also urged the students to make use of the toll free number1098 in case of any danger and difficulty.

In order to educate the children for promoting nature and good environment plant saplings were distributed to the students who were asked to grow these saplings in their school campus. Ms. Packiarani proposed the vote of thanks to all who worked for the success of the day. And Fr. Gabriel also thanked the School administration for making this celebration possible. He also introduced the team members of MMSSS who toiled for the celebration. And the function came to an end with the National Anthem.
