International Day for Poverty Eradication and 54th Birthday of MMSSS Report

17th October 2022 was yet another red lettered day that profusely figured in the diary of MMSSS braving the heavy rain 500 people thronged at the premises of Arulnagar Regional office to express their solidarity with MMSSS, to celebrate its birthday and also to observe the International day of poverty eradication. The function started at 3.00pm with the traditional ceremonies of lighting the lamp, Tamizhthai vazhthu, and prayer song and also with cultural exhibits of ‘Mulaipari’ procession, welcome dance and welcome address.


Rev. Fr. Gabriel, Secretary of MMSSS extended a warm welcome to the huge gathering and briefed on the vision and mission of MMSSS and he highlighted the importance of the event, organized to elicit awareness on poverty alleviation programme’s. It was followed by the felicitation address by Rev. Fr. Edwardraj and the motivational speech by Rev. Fr. Paarivalan.


The Special issue of “samuga vizhigal” the house magazine of MMSSS was released by its Editor and Assistant Secretary of MMSSS Rev. Fr. Stalin and was distributed to the dignitaries and to all other participants. A splendid dance with and awareness song was performed by the students of Kulathupatti Girl’s School. Ms. Megala, the Mental Health Advisor Government hospital Nilakottai spoke on poverty and poor health. Rev. Fr. John Kennedy, Past secretary of MMSSS and Present Director of Halcyon home delivered the keynote address and Mrs. Loretta, District Coordinator proposed the vote of thanks.


The members from self help groups enthusiastically pledged to work united to eradicate poverty and to ensure the sustainable development. They hailed MMSSS and felt proud to be the partners with MMSSS in the progressive journey.


Food pockets and other gifts had been shared with all the participants. Welcome tea and biscuits were served earlier everyone. The programme had been meticulously planned and conducted by the MMSSS staff from Kodaikanal and Batlagundu region of Dindugal District under the constant coordination and supervision of the Chief coordinator and Assistant Secretary of MMSSS Rev. Fr. Rajan.
