Madurai Multipurpose Social Service Society (MMSSS) is an official social work organ of the Archdiocese of Madurai, comprising of four civil districts namely, Madurai, Dindigul, Theni and Virudhunagar. The operation and management function is divided into 8 regional offices. All welfare and development activities are managed and supervised through these regional offices.
The MMSSS was established in 1968 by the Catholic Archdiocese of Madurai as a Charity Organization attending the needs of the affected people during natural and manmade calamities. Though initiated as a charitable organization with Catholic diocesan identity for a decade, it later emerged as a Developmental Organization with secular identity with a clear vision, mission and objectives. Potential efforts have been taken at the organizational and community levels in enhancing the quality of service to the poor and marginalized. Now particularly commemorating 40 years of its service to the civil society, the organization is taking special efforts to take a paradigm shift to evolve as Rights Based Organization setting up its achievement target by 2018 (on the occasion of the 50 years of its existence)
